The Community Services department is responsible for ensuring the provision of essential services and promoting community development at the grassroots level, including social services, emergency services, environmental and health services, community safety, sports, arts, and cultural services. The Community Services department consists of the following sections:

Core responsibilities and functions:

• Community Development:The department focuses on community development at the grassroots level, implementing programs and initiatives that address local needs and improve the quality of life for residents. 

• Service Delivery: They ensure the provision of essential municipal services, including social services, emergency services, environmental and health services, community safety, and road traffic management. 
• Social Services: This includes providing support to vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, children, and people with disabilities, through programs and services. 
• Emergency Services: The department is involved in disaster management, firefighting, and assisting communities during emergencies. 
• Environmental and Health Services: They are responsible for managing environmental health issues, including waste management, water quality monitoring, and sanitation. 
• Community Safety: This includes crime prevention initiatives, traffic management, and ensuring the safety and security of the community. 
• Sports, Arts, and Cultural Services: The department promotes and supports recreational activities, cultural events, and artistic expression within the community. 
• Assessing Disaster Damages: They assess damage caused by disasters and compile reports. 
• Aiding Communities: They aid communities in need. 
• Holding Workshops and Awareness Campaigns: They organize workshops and awareness campaigns to educate the community on various issues. 
• Safety and Security: They are involved in safety and security measures, including crime prevention campaigns. 
• Traffic and Parking: They manage traffic flow and parking within the municipality. 
• Conducting Learners and Driver's Tests: They may be responsible for conducting learner and driver's tests. 
• Refuse & Solid Waste Site: They manage refuse and solid waste sites. 
• Complying with by-laws: Communities must comply with the by-laws of the municipality.
• Respecting other community members: Communities have to respect the municipal rights of other members of the community. 
• Allowing access to property: Communities have to allow municipal officials reasonable access to their property for the performance of municipal functions.
